Our initial purchase at Old Key West is the best location as far as we are concerned. I am frustrated that the concierge part has hotels disappearing as quickly as the "coffee and laundry soap forever" did. Our children really grew up with Disney World and now are adults and still love it. I have a few issues, however, being from New York. I truly believe they need to impose a 3 day minimum during holidays. For instance, I'll be traveling down there from my home in upstate New York for Columbus Day holiday. Since we travel so far, it is crazy to go for just a weekend. We stay for 5 days but can NEVER get the last night (Sunday to Monday - the holiday) because the locals in Florida come in for that one night using limited points but not investing in an actual vacation but instead one night. Most hotels have a 3 night minimum and this would make it better for Disney (as the locals will have to invest more $$$ by staying longer) and better for other DVC members who live out of Florida. New York is not far behind in ownership and it is a major investment for us to travel down there - and we lose out. We have extended our ownership at Old Key West to equal our other memberships - yes, you can extend it to expire in 2057. Of c ourse, at an additional cost. I love to plan my vacations in advance - 11 mos. - I'll be in California next August - and I'm told that the dates for California will not be available until maybe Feb 2009. I am finding that once DVC took off, we were treated like royalty - now - we just a basic hotel guest that whines alot. You have to REALLY love Disney to benefit from this ownership - and we really love Disney.
